Care is at our Core.

Here at Wellburn, these
are the values that are
important to us.

Compassion

At all times we prioritise compassionate care responding with humanity and kindness, supporting our residents and colleagues to ensure we meet their needs.

Accountability

We are responsible for our actions, behaviours, and performances to provide the best possible care to our residents.

Respect

We always treat everyone with dignity and respect, acting in a reliable and trustworthy way to both colleagues and residents alike.

Everyone

We act in an inclusive way without bias or prejudice, embracing the differences of others and allowing them to be their authentic selves.

It’s always about respect. That’s central to our whole culture.

Respecting residents means treating them as individuals and recognising their right to be different. Our approach and the support we offer will vary with each resident.

Understanding and using the experience of each resident is central to our person-centred care. Making sure that each and every one of our residents privacy is respected is also hugely important to us - and we make sure that we show courtesy and compassion when speaking to and communicating with our residents.

  • We ensure residents understand their rights at all times, and that their cultural, religious and political beliefs will be accepted and respected. Our residents are kept informed, so they can form rounded opinions and feel comfortable and confident expressing them.

  • We provide an environment that encourages stimulation and fun, that allows friendship to flourish. Enabling residents to lead fulfilling lives, in a safe haven, in which personal aspirations and abilities are celebrated, realised and maintained.

  • We see residents as individuals, respecting and celebrating their uniqueness and personal needs. Promoting and maintaining dignity at all times and enhancing their sense of purpose and belonging.

  • We always make sure that we spend time talking to residents. Reminiscing and recalling the past are extremely important activities and there is a lot to be learned from their life experience. Conversation can help to overcome loneliness, depression, anxiety and boredom. Memory is like a muscle that needs to be exercised.

  • Residents are encouraged to think and act freely. We recognise the value of independence, by doing things with the residents, rather than for them. Understanding that dependence can breed and generate a sense of powerlessness.

  • We recognise residents absolute fundamental rights and need for personal privacy and confidentiality of information.

  • Each resident should be able to decide, as much as possible, what their own future should be. This freedom to choose has a direct link to their quality of life, and it’s an affirmation of their individual place and significance, which makes a huge difference when it comes to realising achievement. A full range of personal options on social activities and also all aspects of day to day life within the home are offered. We’re extremely conscious that limited choice discourages independence and can have detrimental effects when it comes to self respect.

A culture
that celebrates individuality.

Our lovely family-run business operates a little differently to a lot of other businesses, because our recruitment policy is as much to do with personality as it is about qualifications. We need new starters to fit in and be part of the team, part of the family.
