Our new Christmas initiative, the Festive Buddy Up, invites you to help make Christmas a little less lonely and a little more magical for those residents who may not have any family or friends who can visit them this Christmas, or quite simply would welcome a new friend.
About the initiative
The act of giving is at the heart of the Christmas spirit. Whether that’s buying presents for loved ones, volunteering your time with a charity, or getting involved in collecting donations. It's a time to share love, joy, and generosity with those around us.
Here at Wellburn, the festive season is a busy period for all of our homes. In each of our homes, our dedicated Lifestyle Coordinators work hard to make the season full of magic and joy for all of our residents and their visitors. Sadly though, for some of our residents, especially for those who may not have any family of friends who can visit them, Christmas can be a difficult time.
Our Festive Buddy Up initiative aims to help combat the rising issue of loneliness amongst older people in the UK, and to offer those residents who need company a way to find a much needed connection.
How it works
Our Festive Buddy Up initiative matches volunteers with those residents who would cherish a new friend. We have two different volunteer options and ways of getting involved. Take a look below and choose which option you’d be interested in volunteering for:
Volunteer option 1:
Buddy volunteer
Our Buddy volunteer option, aims to match you with one of our residents. Once we receive your completed form, our team will review your volunteer application and will then ‘match’ you to a resident that’s in one of our homes local to you. We’ll then reach out to you to formally welcome you to the initiative, walk your through the process and schedule in your first visit and go from there.
Volunteer option 2:
Christmas card
If you’d like to get involved, but are unable to visit our homes in-person, there’s also an option to send one of our residents a festive message. Simply fill out the form below, and we’ll write up and deliver a Christmas card for you!
